Wroclaw Transportation

Hello, any suggestions on how to travel from Dresden to Wroclaw on Dec 10 or Wroclaw to Prague on Dec 12? I see that there should be train routes that take a few hours (~ 4 to 5 hours), but when I search on DB or PKP I can only find 15+ hour routes. Is Flixbus the only viable alternative to trains?

I see the expected 4-ish hour routes on December 9th and earlier, but not on the 10th and beyond. That's right at the time of the annual schedule changeover. I wonder if the new schedules aren't out yet. Seems late, but I don't know their normal release timeframe.

Yes, 2nd Sunday in December is the date of the new timetables: December 10th.

I took Flixbus from Wroclaw to Prague in 2019. Much of the journey was through scenic countryside. I quite enjoyed the views.

Excerpts:

Tip 1, the big December timetable change
All European railways change their timetables at 24:00 on the 2nd Saturday in December.

Operators never maintain their usual booking horizons for dates after the timetable change.
So you can easily look up trains on (say) 9 December, but if you try to look up trains on 10 December you'll find no trains show up until much closer to departure date. Or you'll find some trains are loaded but others aren't. Or trains are shown but won't book properly. Whatever. It's all to do with the Big Timetable Change.

Spanish, Portuguese, Hungarian, Polish, Slovakian, Czech & Bulgarian railways usually don't open bookings for dates after the mid-December timetable change until late November or even early December, so the 60 or 90 days shrinks to as little as 10.

But don't worry, no-one else can book either. The train won't sell out, you'll still see cheap tickets when booking opens. Just wait!!!

In June I went from Dresden to Wroclaw by train @ 10:30-2:45, with one easy change at a remote little station near the border. Times don’t usually change an awful lot. You can still buy this ticket for next week on Sunday (since Dec. 10 is a Sunday), so it’s a good bet it will be available Dec. 10 after the new schedule is loaded.

My changeover for that route in 2019 was at Wegliniec. I see in the DB app that it may have changed. On December 9th it's at Zgorzelec.
