Wroclaw destination in November

My daughter will be studying in Wroclaw this year. We would like to visit her in November - leaving at Thanksgiving & taking the following week to see her. My questions are:

Leaving from the Raleigh Durham airport, is it best to attempt to fly direct to Wroclaw or fly to another city, e.g. Berlin or Krakow and take a train to Wroclaw?
For the nine day period, is it best to stay entirely in Wroclaw or make a side trip to Krakow or Warsaw (or other areas) for a few days?
We want to take advantage of seeing the Christmas market in Wroclaw. Any suggestions as to the best day of the week or other advice?
Without yet knowing where my daughter will be living, is there a recommendation for lodging - bed and breakfast preferable close to the city center?

Thanks

Here are some resources for Wroclaw:

You won't see direct flights to Wroclaw from Raleigh Durham (or even NY or Chicago). I would fly into Warsaw, spend at least a few days there, and then take a train. Yes, you should have enough time to see at least 2-3 cities. The train system is easy and inexpensive (as is the Polski Bus, which is a long distance bus service that even goes to Prague and Berlin, etc.) You can even fly into Berlin or Dresden and connect to Wroclaw from either of those cities via public transport. I don't know what flights make most sense to you given your airport.

For lodging, I just look into www.booking.com. You can locate your lodging via the easy maps.

Hi,

If you choose to connect to Wroclaw from Dresden, this might help: www.trilex.de. This is from a brochure focusing on Wroclaw to Dresden (terminus) and Jelenia Gora, (terminus), each route going through Görlitz or Zgorzelec

I was in Wroclaw in August. Really cute town.

I took a free walking tour from, https://freewalkingtour.com/wroclaw/
I took the gnome tour. It was really interesting- explained the political reasons on why the gnomes started.
I wish I had taken another walking tour through them.

I had Matt as a tour guide. He was great. Gave him a good tip for this "free" tour.

I think the Christmas markets will be fantastic there.

Thanks - it looks like it will be December when we go and we'll try to take in Krakow too.

Krakow is fabulous! Don't miss it. Wroclaw is a nice town as well. The trains in Poland are excellent; always on time.

You can reach Warsaw from Los Angeles International Airport, O'Hare International Airport in Chicago, Newark Liberty International Airport or John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.
Warsaw Chopin Airport has flights to Copernicus Airport Wrocław.
The website of Polish State Railways could be helpful http://rozklad-pkp.pl/en
I think for trips you can take into consideration Warsaw (maybe as a beginning of stay in Poland, from Okęcie), Cracow, Wieliczka, Zakopane and some popular places in the western part of the country, not far away from Wrocław, as Świdnica, Wałbrzych (Książ Castle), Kudowa-Zdrój and Kłodzko or a little further - Poznań, Gniezno, Toruń and Gdańsk or Szczecin and Świnoujście (spa town on the Baltic Sea). You can travel there with your daughter. She could get to know the country better than only in Wrocław.
