Włocławek, Poland

I'm curious if anyone has any experience with Włocławek, a small city on the Vistula northeast of Warsaw. It drew my attention because of the memorial to Father Jerzy Popiełuszko on a nearby lake where his body was dumped after he was beaten to unconsciousness if not death by low-level Security service members in 1984. It looks like the city has a fair amount of things to explore, and is near the town of Płock, recommended in a recent Warsaw thread.

Dave,
You are going to have a fantastic trip with all of the research and reading you are doing. Wish you could be my tour guide.

Judy B... Thanks for the kind words. I'm stunned by the amount of stuff to see in Poland. How's the Atlanta travel group doing these days?

Funny you should ask because we haven’t met since November I think and that was outdoors. Actually I think we could meet sometime soon because 3 of us are getting our shots. I’m itching to talk travel. I’ve been enjoying Rick’s Monday Night Travel evenings. Have you tuned in? It’s fun but at 9 pm late for me- however, starting March 1, 8:30 pm will be the start time. He must be showing pity to us east coasters.
I have once again revised my wish list with Scandinavia at number 1. Also, Eastern Europe is on it and Poland off (as a stand alone). Poland is included though. I haven’t been to many places on this tour which would be a good way to see the highlights like Budapest and Krakow as well as Croatia and Slovenia. I have seen Prague but it merits a return trip.
I have more hope that the US may be vaccinated in high numbers by the fall but will Europe, allowing us safe travels? Do you have thoughts on that?
Take care!
