Wizz Airline Reliability

We're flying from Hamburg to Gdansk for the start of a Rick Steves tour, thinking of using Wizz Airline since it seemed to be the only one that made a direct flight from Hamburg. (Lufthansa required changing planes in Frankfurt.) In the US the budget airlines have a reputation for canceling flights (or going out of business, looking at you Spirit). Any experience with Wizz Airline?

Wizz Air – 13th Place
Now that we get into some of the worst airlines in Europe, we have 13th place, Wizz Air. The best thing we can say about this Hungarian discount airline is that it was by far the cheapest for the 3rd year in a row. We can also say that Wizz is in the top 3 for reliability, which means it’s a good choice based on 2 important factors.
But, like Ryanair, Wizz isn’t good for traveling with pets, and it’s the second-worst for comfort. It’s also the worst-rated carrier by passengers and not especially good for travelling as a family.

One assessment.

Like the pp cited, it's a budget airline. Expect rigid adherence to baggage limits, and little in the way of on board comfort. But it's been in business for 20 years, so is unlikely to fold any time soon. And Flight Stats gives it an 86% on time reliability.

I've flown Wizz numerous times and it's absolutely fine. It's probably my least favourite of the three major European budget carriers in terms of service but I would have no concerns with it going out of business. There may be flight cancellations this summer due to fuel shortages but I don't think Wizz is necessarily riskier than any other airline when it comes to that. In fact I am flying Wizz to Gdansk myself in August (hoping all the fuel issues are sorted by then!).

Flown many times. Not a problem but as others have said, pay attention to the luggage weight and size. While we have had Ryan air change schedules on us, not Wizz air.

I have no expeerience of Wizzair, but my podiatrist has just had her July flight home from Crete cancelled and the only option is at an unacceptable time.
