Warsaw never seems to be on anyone's list for visiting Christmas markets. I'm curious if anyone has been to Warsaw's Christmas market and can offer any insight on it it. Warsaw is one of those cities I would like to see. A good Christmas market would only add to the experience!
I've been to the ones in Krakow and Wrocław, which were both excellent.
Not sure if many here can speak to Warsaw's one. I think many Americans assume Germany has a monopoly on Christmas Markets, but really one can find just a charming ones from Lisbon to Lublin :)
Perhaps AW will chime in...
I'm not really into Christmas markets so cannot give an opinion but Warsaw usually has several - larger one in the Old/New Town (Barbican area) and smaller ones scattered around Warsaw. I don't think they are comparable with Kraków or Wrocław as German influences have never been strong in this part of Poland, and there is not really much interest in copying them here even if it brings tourists and money. What could be a prime location for such an event - the Old Town Market Square - has been turned into big ice-skating rink for many years now as it's very popular with the locals.
Thanks for the responses!
A Warsaw local was not so impressed in 2017: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhV_mTnxTa8
Well, I told you to not expect much. Christmas markets are German tradition, if you have to visit one in Poland, go to regions that have stronger German influences. I'm a Warsaw local, too, and frankly speaking, I don't care about Christmas markets at all. Christmas food and decorations can be bought everywhere in Warsaw at that time of year, no particular need to go to the Old town for that.
