Visiting Poland during Christmas Holidays

Hello,

I am planning a trip to Poland during the Christmas holidays - Krakow and Wroclaw. Unfortunately, my job is at it's busiest during the summer and I have a nice break during the holidays. But I am starting to have second thoughts about visiting in December/January. My family and I don't mind the cold but I am worried about ice and snow. We do not live in a part of the US where we get snow. I have also read the days are very short with sundown around 4pm. We also want to travel out of the cities to see sites like the Peace churches. Can ice and snow impact travel? Any information is appreciated.

Poland is one of the most underrated European Christmas destinations imo. I've traveled in Poland during the Christmas time, including Krakow and Wroclaw and it was a great experience, colorful Christmas markets, religious festivals, delicious food, winter sports etc. Think Christmas in Germany but half the price. While it can sometimes snow and does get cold, it does not snow enough in southern Poland to be a issue for travel. I had no issues driving around southern Poland in December and January (I'm from Spain). Days are shorter yes but it did not feel like an issue for me, there were still plenty of activities, like the Christmas Markets - https://www.inyourpocket.com/krakow/krakow-christmas-fair-on-the-market-square_3364e

FYI: Christmas Eve (Dec 24) in Poland is called Wigilia. Everything is closed on this day as this is when families spend the evening having a big traditional meal at home. Other than that should be no other issues.

If you have any other questions about Poland in Christmas time I'd be happy to answer them :)

Thank you for your insights. I have osteoporosis and even though I am under treatment, I started having visions of slipping on ice and fracturing a bone!

I do not recall ice the 3 times I was in southern Poland in the winter :)
