Travel Itinerary for Poland

Planning a November trip. Visiting my son.

I am seeking info and advice on the best city to fly into as well as train service to the other cities.

I have also considered entering via air to Warsaw; head north then south then back to Warsaw.

Amy thoughts?

Also points of interest or must do restaurants.

What are your interests? History, art, food, culture, nature? Where are you meeting your son? What city are your flying from (assume North America?)? If your son is living there, he must have some ideas.

It really depends on how much time you have as well as your interests. Do consider an open jaw ticket (in from one airport, out from another) so you don't have to backtrack.

I was there in 2019 and visited Warsaw (3 nights), Krakow (4 nights), Wrocław (2 nights), Torun (1 night), and Gdańsk (3 nights). I felt like this was the right number of days for each city I visited; I had time to see what I wanted to see and not feel rushed.

I arrived in Warsaw by train from Berlin, so I didn't fly in. I flew out from Gdansk.

My son is not yet there.

I am considering flying in to one city and flying out of another.

I like art, history, foods, music.

I will be there for 2 weeks.

I have more info on Krakow than any of the other cities.

IF that isn't a direct flight from NA to Warsaw, and it involves a change in Europe, then here's what I like:

Fly into Gdansk > Train to Poznan > Train to Warsaw > Train to Wroclaw > Train to Krakow > Fly out of Krakow

Here's a roughly 2 week "Best of Poland" itinerary I put together in the past, It's not exactly two weeks, but just to give an idea for what I'd consider the "greatest hits" for a first visit to Poland:

Fly in to Warsaw

-Warsaw (3 nights)

-Torun (2 nights)

-Gdansk (4 nights) - day trip to Malbork Castle

-Gniezno "Birthplace of Poland" (2 nights) - day trip to the Iron Age settlement of Biskupin

-Wroclaw (3 nights): - day trip to the Church of Peace in Świdnica

-Kraków (4 nights): - day trip to Zakopane in the Tatra Mountains

Fly out of Kraków

Thank you all for the replies. If you have any specific points of interest in each of the cities mentioned please post them.

I am hoping to spend 2 weeks.

I can fly to a city in another country and take a train in to Poland.

sayres1821, there's almost too much to choose from to give reasonable advice rather than just a collection of random suggestions. This is where a good guidebook comes in. Rick Steves Snapshot guides to Gdansk, Krakow and Warsaw are a good start, and the Lonely Planet guidebook for a more comprehensive coverage of Poland. I'd also suggest looking at the website: In Your Pocket: Warsaw (or the other cities names) where you'll see some really specific guidance Inyourpocket poland.

Where to fly in to depends on where you are flying from. LOT Polish Airlines flies direct to Warsaw from Chicago, Toronto and NYC (JFK) so if convenience is important to you, that might make a difference. Otherwise its 2+ connections.

I agree with Stan, you should look up a guide book or wikitravel is a good resource of POIs.

What interests me probably does not interest you. I'll just mention

Warsaw - Warsaw Rising Museum
Gdansk - Grunwald Battlefield and Malbork Castle
Wroclaw - Old City Arsenal Museum
Krakow - Polish Aviation Museum
