Trains looking too far out?

Carlos and travelmom if you are out there :) Or anyone else who may know :)

I am taking the train from Berlin to Gdansk on April 16, but they only have trains that take 6-plus hours. The fast train seems to stop showing on March 20th. Does that mean that the fast train will not happen in April or do I have to wait for the 25 to 30-day window? Thanks

Are you trying to buy from the Polish site? I tried for 4/16 and also on 3/16 (just for information) and the best I see is a 5:50 on 3/16 - and a 7 hr on 4/16.

I know for last September, I waited and bought all 3 sets of my tickets at the same time, less than 30 days out from the final leg.

I would wait - I am pretty sure someone told ME to wait till 30 days out. 🤣 And I had no trouble getting tickets. Plus they are always so inexpensive! I never buy first class anything, but I would say in this case to go for it. I did for the two shorter journeys and got 2nd for the longer one - and while it was fine, I wished I had gone ahead with first for it also.

I am hoping that it is the 30 day rule and that they are running that train. Maybe Carlos knows ;)

There is this notation on the Intercity ticket website for travel on April 16th from Berlin Hbf > Gdansk GL

"Uwaga! Od 25. marca do 21. kwietnia 2023 r. na odcinku Berlin Hbf. - Frankfurt (Oder) występują utrudnienia w ruchu pociągów. Przejazd odbywa się z przesiadką do autobusu komunikacji zastępczej na podstawie ważnego biletu kolejowego."

"Attention! From March 25 to April 21, 2023 on the section Berlin Hbf. - Frankfurt (Oder) there are difficulties in train traffic. The journey takes place with a change to a replacement bus on the basis of a valid train ticket."

Frankfurt (Oder) not Frankfurt (Main) - Frankfurt (Oder) is on the Germany/Poland border.

Hi, well I have no experience traveling from Germany to Poland. Call me old fashioned, but when taking trains I tend to buy the tickets once I'm in the city itself, the train stations are typically close to the center of town and fascinating sites onto themselves. One can then get off the train and then secure tickets for the next leg of the voyage in the same building.

You might be able to take the bus from Berlin to Szczecin, then hop on the train to Gdansk.

The train system in Poland was excellent and quite inexpensive. We purchased our tickets at the station, either day of travel or a few days before. Every time I found a ticket agent that spoke English, I bought a few sets of tickets. Poland was amazing, you will love it, Sorry I can't offer any advice on Berlin to Gdansk.

I also am trying to figure out if I should take a train or fly from Berlin to Gdansk on Sept 12th. The train schedule does say it takes about 6 hrs because it makes a stop. Does anyone know the price of the train from Berlin to Gdansk? I will compare that to flights.

Looking at Bahn.de for 2 weeks time shows that the direct train, the 1252 from Platform 12 at Berlin Hbf , arriving Gdansk Glowny is 39.90 Euro 2nd Class, no cancellation allowed, an extra 5 Euro to allow cancellation and include a Berlin city ticket
Add 22 Euro for 1st Class

Fred thanks for the reply. The issue now is they are working on the lines during the period I will be there. The direct train will not be running which is a bummer.
