Rome2rio suggests a direct train to Olsztyn (3 hours), then a 20 minute taxi ride for about US$20 equivalent.

thank you very much for the info. is there a way a can take the bus if available and how can I look for the bus schedule.

Go to en.e-podroznik.pl to search for Polish buses. Be careful of your spelling. Just enter the first few letters and then select the destination from the list of possibilities.
It appears that there is fairly frequent service from Ostroda to Gierzwald, but buses depart from two different locations in Ostroda. (I'm typing on a tablet that doesn't provide a way to access the Polish alphabet, so I'm not speling those two city names correctly.)
