What time of year? If not summer, and if you wash some clothes by hand, you may have trouble getting things to dry overnight on all those one-night stops. And i would find that pace very tiring.

I don't know what sort of sightseeing you like to do, so it's really hard to comment on your allocation of time. However, Gdansk has two museums that can be very time-comsuming, the Solidarity Center and the WW II Museum. If you are interested in that sort of thing, Gdansk needs considerably more time.

How much time have you allotted to Warsaw? It, too, has a lot of museums/historical sites related to 20th-century history.

Of the places you list, I haven't been to these: Sandomierz, Lublin, Eblag, Canal, Malbork, Jelenia Gora, Czestochowa, and Zakopane. My route was quite different, and I was using buses and trains, so I don't have a good feel for how long your drives are going to be.

Hi,

Such an itinerary I would do (most of it) in the summer....some very interesting places you have listed, eg, those places located in the lower Vistula area. Good historical choices.

I've only been to some of these places. Much as I like Sandomierz, it seems a bit of an outlier, as you are going south from Warsaw, almost to Krakow, and then heading back NE to Lublin. In general, it looks like lots of driving for little on-scene time anywhere. Maybe consider Auschwitz as a day trip from Krakow?

I also think it is too much for the time you got. "Oswiecim 1 night, Auschwitz next day". Are you aware that Oswiecim and Auschwitz are two different names for one town? And concentration camp there. One Polish, one German.

I believe astodd is indicating that he will spend the night before his Auschwitz visit in the town of Oswiecim. I looked at a map, and it seemed to make sense.

Hi,

Wouldn't it better logistically more feasible to go from Poznan to Wroclaw, and afterwards head to Jelenia Gora which near the Riesengebirge mountains? I commend your choice of Elblag.

@acraven: Auschwitz or Oswiecim depending which language we use is an easy day trip from Krakow especially with a car. The camp has the same name as the town.

I know, Ilja. I was there just a few days ago, though I took a bus. I imagine a night in a hotel in Oswiecim is quite a bit cheaper than a night in Krakow, and if you're going to be driving very near Oswiecim anyway, doing the one-night stop would be tempting (to me).

Hello,

This itinerary looks a bit overwhelming in my opinion. You won't get a chance to properly get to know those places, besides you will be very tired afterwards.

If you plan to start sightseeing in the south of Poland (Sandomierz), then maybe it's best to stay in the south, especially that there are so many amazing places to visit. Swietokrzyskie mountains, Krakow, Wieliczka Salt Mine, Auschwitz concentration camp, Zakopane, Tatra mountains, Czestochowa - it's well enough for a two-week holidays.

You can find some tips and recommendations here: https://overhere.eu/9-best-places-to-visit-in-southern-poland/

In this blog there's also a lot of info about Polish attractions and great hiking trails.
