I am little confused about where the tour leaves you off and what restaurants are close . Our tour begins at 1pm and suspect it to be over at 4:45 pm. I think there is time to eat before the train ride back to Krakow but can not figure out how close the train is to near by restaurants. Does anyone have any insight on this matter? I do know there is a 20 minute walk to the site of the tour from the train. Does anyone know of a great restaurant....... doesn't need to be fancy.
Thanks!
I will be following along for any recommendations as I'll be there next month. But what I did on my end is to look at Google maps for restaurants between the museum and train station, and marked a few that appear to have good reviews.
From what I read on other blogs, there are actually several restaurants and cafes on that route. I may just grab a quick bite before the train and have dinner near Krakow train station.
We made a visit to Auschwitz/Birkenau last year, with a tour that started in the morning, had a short pause for lunch, and continued into the afternoon. We brought our own lunch, but the only food available at the Auschwitz camp was vending machines outside the entrance, so off-site restaurants before your train are definitely how you’d want to go.
Your tour starts and ends at Auschwitz I

Your tour has 2 parts with a bus shuttle towards and from Auschwitz II (=Birkenau).

It is not allowed to eat or drink inside the two camps (except for medical reasons). Don't worry, your guide will remember you this. The shuttle ride is the perfect time to dig into the sandwich you brought with you.
Auschwitz is the name of the camps. BTW a (Nazi) german name (and don't forget locals can be upset using this name).
The name of the village (so also the name of the station) is Oświęcim.
I can recommend Restauracja NaNovo. They have menu in english and also (willing to) talk english with you.

Just a few years ago, we ate lunch at a cafeteria within the main reception building, inside the ticketed area of the Auschwitz camp. We then walked to the proprietary bus stop to meet our guide again, for Birkenau. We had a private car pickup, so we did not see the town or the contemporary railroad station.
Who thinks about food on a concentration camp tour? I would have breakfast before I was anywhere near that place and maybe bring a couple of protein bars for the ride home.
Thank you for your responses.
I do understand what someone posted about food. I believe you do not realize that we will have been on our journey to visit the site since 11am. Regarding the train ride back to Krakow, it does not leave until 7pm ( to accommodate our visited ). By the time we get back to Krakow, it will be after 8pm. That is a long time without eating for 1- 76 year old and a 70 year old.
I appreciate the restaurant recommendation. Thank you. While traveling we must always be prepared for different avenues and educate ourselves.
I do know there is a 20 minute walk to the site of the tour from the train.
Yes, correct, but you could also take the public buses.
Take bus line 0, 2, 3 or 8 from the "Dworzec PKP" stop in front of the station. After 4 minutes, get off at the "Muzeum I" stop and walk 200 m further down the road to the Memorial entrance.

Arrival stop Muzeum I here https://maps.app.goo.gl/JBuoGLDECkgrLVgz8
There is a ticket machine at the bus stop near the station (accepts cards or cash). I believe you can also pay the driver, but he won't return money.
The ticket costs 4 zloty per person
From April to October, a special bus line, “M,” runs between the train station and the main entrance to the Museum itself. The journey takes five minutes, and the bus runs every 30 minutes from 9 am to 4 pm.
