I'll be spending a week in Krakow and a week in Warsaw between Oct. 26 and Nov. 9, traveling with a group of 5 friends. Krakow is fully planned, but we could use some suggestions for Warsaw from Nov. 3-9. Is Torun or Lublin a good choice for a day trip? We are all in our mid-70s, energetic and well-traveled. I'm hoping to hear a Chopin recital, so if anyone has any tips, please share.

Toruń is a lovely town for a day trip. Ah, the gingerbread!!
I did a day trip to Gdansk via train from Warsaw--it's about 2.5 hrs, no changes. I arrived around 10 am and left at 5:30 pm--the train station is maybe a 10 minute walk into the old town area--I got to see a cheerleading competition in a square on my way there and I spent time exploring the streets full of wonderful Baroque buildings and a bit of shopping, took an hour long boat ride out to see the Westerplatte, had lunch at a restaurant near the dock, then headed back towards the train station as the European Solidarity Centre museum was on the other side of it. You pass through the Solidarity gate on the way in and the museum was very well done, I spent a couple of hours there. The Museum of the Second World War has since opened, and as I am very interested in WWII I would have made a point to see it when I visited. I think Gdansk and the surrounding areas are very much worth more time than a day trip, but it was also a very satisfying day trip for me.
I attended a piano concert here:

Thanks for the suggestion!
Torun is certainly nice as a day trip, but even better for a night or two due to its size.
If you're looking for a more manageable day trip from Warsaw I can suggest Kazimierz Dolny, it's one of the best preserved Polish Renaissance towns in the country.
