Rail from Krakow to Gdansk in July

Just look at any Friday train schedule in the next month or two and expect options to be similar, with several direct trains per day taking 5.5 hours. There may be schedule adjustments for summer, but usually not significant. You probably can't buy tickets more than two months ahead and wouldn't pay more than $100 per person [edit: 304 zloty] for reserved first class tickets, even on short notice. The railway site at https://rozklad-pkp.pl/en shuts down for maintenance a few afternoons (US time) per week.

I don't know how many months in advance the schedule is posted though. Look at the price between first and second class and see if it's worth it, both are likely to be quite inexpensive. These are very new Pendolino trains (put into service just a few years ago, in 2014), I doubt second class is anything but really nice.

This is excellent help and I thank you. I did enter from Krakow to Gdansk, time and date. It is unable to give me information. There are several choices of rail stations to select in each city. I do not know which one to select.
In both situations, we will be city center, very close to the main square.

Are there any particular words that would be a clue as to which station I pick?

"Glowny" is the main station in each city. Choosing from their pull-down menu may be better recognized by the system, versus straight typing. Schedules (not tickets) also available through the Deutsche Bahn link at Looking Up Train Schedules and Routes Online.

I thought that might be the right station. Both locations listed that choice. Maybe it is just too early for a July Friday. I would think there is certainly rail service between the 2 cities.

There are a number of transportation websites out there that simply do not recognize what you have typed, even if your spelling is impeccable. They insist that you type part of the city name, wait for a list of options to appear, and choose the one you want. I always choose the city name in all caps if it's on the list. That way I don't have to worry about which station a particular train departs from or arrives at.

We were in Poland last summer. I had trouble buying the tickets online because they wanted me to register, etc. When we got to krakow we went to the train station and purchased tickets for Wroclaw to Gdańsk, then Gdańsk to Warsaw. (We had a day tour from Krakow to Wroclaw). We had no problem. Hint - write down where you want to go, English was limited at the train station.

We learned a long time ago to write it down. Thanks for the reminder.

I agree that you should buy tickets in advance for a Friday in July. We were in Poland last July and trains were mostly full. You will be able to purchase tickets and get seat reservations. I think the tickets become available 30 days before travel. Maybe it was 60 days. I can’t remember exactly, but it’s not as far in advance as in some other countries. You don’t have to register to buy tickets on line, but if you do register, you’ll be able to see all the tickets you have bought, which I found helpful.

The main train station in Krakow is Kraków Główny, in Gdansk it's Gdańsk Główny. This is the official site for Polish rail. I used it to buy train tickets a year ago and it worked fine. Choose a Friday in the next few weeks to see schedules. They generally don't change much. Or use bahn.com. They have trains for most of Europe but no prices.
