Questions about a boat tour or Water Tram F5 in Gdansk

We're in Malbork, and will be traveling to Gdansk tomorrow for a few days.

We'd like to see Westerplatte. Assuming the weather is good, would anyone recommend taking a boat tour, or just the F5 water tram?

If you'd recommend a boat tour, I'd be happy to have recommendations.

Thanks.

We ended up just taking a bus. I prefer to keep my own timetable, and taking a bus was cheap snd afforded us the chance to come and go as we wanted, snd not be beholden to a boat's schedule.

Since you were just in Malbork, did you see the castle? How was it? Is there anything else that should be seen in Malbork besides the castle? How far is it from Gdansk?

@Patti,

Malbork is about 20-30 minutes by train from Gdansk Glowny; it's close enough that you can take a PolRegio train (like a local commuter train), and don't have to take an InterCity train, which requires reserving a seat. We arrived in the evening & stayed overnight, so we were able to see the castle at night (it's all it up & pretty), go out to dinner & have drinks. We toured the castle the next day & took the train to Gdansk afterwards. They said that it's the largest brick castle in the world, so it's very interesting.

Most people just take the train from Gdansk for the day, and return later, because there isn't much in town besides the castle. We really like the restaurant Awocado (https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g274731-d10843473-Reviews-Restaurant_Pizzeria_Awocado-Malbork_Pomerania_Province_Northern_Poland.html), and it was more affordable than the typical restaurant you'd see in Gdansk.

Enjoy your trip!
