Prague to Auschwitz-Birkenau to Krakow

We would like to find the easiest method of travel from Prague to Auschwitz-Birkenau then on to Krakow.
Taking the night train/sleeper may be obvious...but wondering about private quarters/accommodations on the ride. Is there a border check?
Once arriving at Auschwitz would it be just as easy to buy a direct bus/train to Krakow.

Thoughts???

Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

Since Poland joined the Schengen visa zone, there should be no more need to wake you for a border inspection. Note that arrival at Oswiecim is at 4:45 a.m. I don't know whether the station has bag storage, but if you leave bags there, then you have to go back for them. From the train station to the memorial site, it's about a 20-minute walk, but you'll have plenty of time and the streets all to yourselves, or you can take a taxi with luggage. Bag storage is available at the museum's Visitor Service Center. From there, buses run at least hourly to Krakow.
