With Poznan being torn up in the center, do you think it is best to avoid this in April and go to Torun for one night before heading to Gdansk? We will be coming from Berlin and will be traveling by train. After Gdansk we will got to Warsaw and then Wroclaw before heading to Prague. We will do Krakow later in the trip.

Although we enjoyed Poznan very much, we liked Torun even more. We found more of interest in Torun. We did a walking tour and went to a few of the museums. Its a beautiful city situated on a river, and the birthplace of Copernicus and gingerbread (Supposedly). We stayed in Torun a couple nights and visited Bydgoszcz on a day trip. Bydgoszcz is also very interesting, picturesque with so much history. The cathedral there is one of the most unique and beautiful churches I've ever seen.
Imagine the choice between Frankfurt (Poznan) vs Heidelberg (Torun). Torun without doubt for me, if not you will only be seeing big cities! Poznan itself is a good place for a business conference or maybe a tech convention.

Nicola, the above is a link to my Poland trip report. I list all my accommodations and restaurants. In Torun we stayed in Hotel Petite Fleur. Highly, highly recommend. I would say it is more of a BnB. The most marvelous breakfasts we have ever had in our travels. It is right in the old town.
