Hi - We are going on the Best of Poland tour in September and I would like to get some Polish Złoty for the trip. I was thinking that $100 worth of PLN would be enough for those places that do not take credit cards and for tipping. Thoughts?

Very little need for local currency anymore in the day of tap and go. But, if you want some cash get it at a BANK ATM at the airport. I am still carrying around 50 euros in coins and notes after several trips...

$100 worth of Zloty is a good choice. If you go to towns outside of the big cities, you will need it for small vendors. Especially if you are getting hand made souvenirs. We visited Zakopane in the Tatra mountains and most of the booths only took cash payments. It limited my gift choices.

I found Poland to be one country in Europe where I did use cash more than in other countries. I used it for small purchases such as a snack or coffee, buses, small non-tourist restaurants, etc. I used a driver during one trip for a side trip and he wanted payment in cash. I also used a taxi in one small village and paid him in cash. I attend Mass on my trips and usually give a donation in cash.
I think $100 is probably enough. I usually get $200 but I end up bringing some of it home.
