Poland in late December

We have 10 days for 2016 winter break travel and are seriously considering Poland. From what I can tell from reading this forum there is plenty to see and experience. My concern is time lost due to Christmas. Is pretty much everything closed and for how long? What is New Years like in Kraków or Warsaw? If you've been to Poland in the winter I'd love your feedback.
Thank you!

Hi Marcia, I just wrote a reply to Christine ("Christmas in Kraków" thread) which may be of interest to you. I don't think holiday closings will affect your trip all that much. Info for all the sites was easy to find online when we went with no set plans this past Xmas / New Year's. Kraków stayed generally more "open" than, say Munich does... sometimes surprisingly so. Maybe a few things close for a day or two but we found interesting things to do each day. New Year's Eve in Kraków was bitterly cold and very fireworky... Loved it :)
