Places in Poland to Propose?

Hello all, I am planning a trip to Poland with my girlfriend in September of 2026. We'll be there the 7th through the 19th, after a brief stop in London. One of the purposes of my trip, other than to see the beautiful country and its cities, is to propose to my girlfriend of several years. Our plan as it stands right now is 3 days in Krakow, 3 days in Gdansk, a day in Torun, and finally, 5 days in Warsaw (well-earned rest after a trip where we will be moving around so much!). I have been considering whether to propose at the very beginning of the trip, either in the days we will spend in London, or the beginning of our travels in Poland with Krakow. I think one of the deciding factors (other than having to hide the ring in luggage for so long!) will be finding the perfect spot, so I wanted to run it by the board to see if anyone had any ideas. I know we want to make a couple of day trips but it would be nice if suggestions were broadly around these hubs.

I am curious to hear if any places spring to mind as particularly beautiful and secluded- it doesn't have to be a totally isolated spot, but I would like to be away from major city crowds. She does not know I will be proposing, but it is not our first European trip together so I imagine I will still have the element of surprise- although she always seems to know what I'm up to ; )

Nothing to add as location since I have never been to Poland but I like the idea of doing it early in the trip. And just feel for the right moment, it might not be what you planned.

But aren’t you concerned your girlfriend may read this thread and figure out it is you with the details you shared about location and dates?

I was in Gdansk in September and in the main restaurant area/ square, a young man fell to his knees, clearly proposing. Someone had been teed up to film, she said yes and the crowd erupted in cheers and applause. It wasn't private but it was beautiful.

I want to offer a second for the Salt Mine Chapel. It's such a unique location, that it will be remembered forever. Hopefully you get enough time to linger there.

Please report back when you return on how it went (and where you chose).

This will be amazing.

First off, what are your soon to be fiancé’s interests? Movies? Events? Places?

London: you have so many cool things there and it’s early in the trip.

I’ll throw some ideas out for brainstorming. I have no idea if these are relevant but I’m spurring creativity.

Princess Di: Hyde park walk, St Paul’s Cathedral, Sloan square
Peter Pan statue
Theatre- favorite play or musical
Nottinghill movie sights. Like the Ritz. Or Nottinghill area itself. Other movie sites.
Shopping sites
Wimbledon ( museum and tennis courts to view)
Abbey road
The giant ferris wheel

I’ve only been to Krakow in Poland.

Lady with the Ermine Painting (da Vinci)
Vodka bars
Vibrant cafe scene on the Square
The castle
Dragon statue by the river

Whatever she, or you are both into, coordinate the big moment around that.

My husband surprised me with proposing in the Pebble Beach Tap Room. Golf brought us together and Pebble was perfect. We still talk about it.

When I proposed to my wife, she replied "Sober up and ask me again in the morning." Like a damn fool I did. That was 35 years ago

Thanks all for the responses, not sure how to reply directly. Agreed early in the trip is better, and thanks for the advice on waiting for the right moment. @Mo R I like these suggestions a lot! We are both pretty nature-inclined so the Hyde Park walk is a good suggestion I wouldn't have thought about. One of the reasons I was leaning towards doing it in Poland is there is a lot more greenery than in the city. I'll definitely consider the salt mine cathedral as others have suggested, that will be about midway through our trip so still time for celebration! And as for your question @JoyNycB ... I do most of the planning so I doubt she is going to find this, LOL! But if she does it's going to be pretty hard to deny, unless lots of people are planning a London stopover.

I proposed to my wife in Prague. I did have a plan to do it during a classical concert in one of the churches but I bottled it and proposed in our hotel room.

It was fine, she said yes and we're still going strong 25 years later.

I'd advise proposing earlier in the trip otherwise you'll be spending all your time thinking about it rather than focusing on your trip.

Early in trip makes sense.
Possibilities: In a Trabant (old Communist-era car) during a trip of Nowa Huta in Krakow (Crazy Guides) - work with them and they would find a green and private area! See if you can get Cornelia! She was on a Rick Steves video of Krakow!
In Warsaw, there is a lovely park, it is where the Chopin statute is. The statute is inn the upper part of Warsaw's Royal Baths Park (also known as Łazienki Park), but the park would have many lovely areas - large, green and private!
