I will be leaving for an 11 day tour of Poland on April 11th. I,m seeing a wide range in temperatures looking forward. I am only bringing a carry on. Has anyone traveled to Poland this time of year and could suggest whether or not to bring more long sleeve shirts or short, and how heavy of a jacket to bring? I could always buy a sweat shirt over there if needed, but would like to hear from people who have traveled during this time. Thank you.
Think layers to manage varying temperatures and precipitation. I've traveled in Europe during April and experienced rain...even snow and sleet....yet remained comfortable. So, included in my carry-on luggage are a lightweight long sleeve merino wool t-shirt, long sleeved shirts (roll up the sleeves during warm days), a merino wool sweater and a very lightweight rain resistant hooded shell. If cool/cold temperatures are possible, then toss in a fleece hat and gloves.
Thank you.
Like Bruce says, layers are the key to both packing light and staying dry and warm.
I bring my lightweight (just over 11oz.) WATERPROOF raincoat that packs into its own pocket and my packable down puffer jacket or vest. Alone or worn together, that will cover a wide range of temperatures.
You don't want heavy. You want warm and lightweight.
Also, factor in your own tolerance to temperatures. Someone from Minnesota might find 60 degrees to be T-shirt weather, while someone from Phoenix might think winter jacket.
