Most of the trains I will travel on (Warsaw-Gdansk, Suwalki-Warsaw-Krakow, Krakow-Warsaw) indicate that seat reservations are “compulsory”. I have a 1st class Eurail Pass. Any hints for reserving seats online from the USA if you will be using a Eurail Pass? I will travel in early October. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Very interesting that you are going to Suwalki. Getting the seat reservation the night before your departure is fine. I use a Pass too, 2nd class when I go in the summer sometime between mid-May to mid-July, ie, high season, and getting a seat reservation is no problem, day train or night train.
With your 1st class Pass, you have double the options/flexibility, either a seat reservation in 2nd class or 1st class.
