I'm thinking of spending 5 nights in Lower Silesia (Karpacz, Swidnica and possibly Klodzko). Public transportation looks ok. My concerns about public transportation are 1) if the weather is lousy in Karpacz and we can't hike, we're sort of stuck and 2) public transportation link from Swidnica to Klodzko is weak -- one train a day, not sure about bus. We could make it work.
We could also rent a car. Manual transmission isn't a problem. Distances won't be a problem. It's small town so it seems like parking won't be a problem. What would the driving be like? Plan would be to rent/return at Wroclaw airport. Never been to Poland. Have rented cars in France, Spain (both easy experiences) and England, Ireland, Wales (no problems but didn't like being on the "wrong" side of the road). Spouse will be 70 at time of trip. Trip will be mid-July.
