Any help on purchasing a train ticket from Krakow to Vienna. Raileurope website only shows a night train. Any help would be appreciated.
I bought a ticket at the train station in Krakow, couldn't figure out how to do it online.
Buying tickets in Poland should be no problem, even on short notice, (from a train station or some travel agencies) and you probably could also buy them in a neighboring country, if Krakow is not your first stop.
Here are some detailed instructions from the wonderful man in seat 61 website:

Not saying it is a better choice, but just so you know, there is also Polski Bus connection between Kraków and Vienna (Wiedeń in Polish).
You can see schedules and details here:

Thank you all for the feedback. Very helpful.
We bought tickets the day before leaving Krakow, and it was much cheaper than buying it online although I didn't try it that way. There are only one or two train times other than the night train, and it is not that fast. I think we left early afternoon and got to Vienna after dark. This was last September.
You should stop using the RailEurope website immediately. They do not show all trains, and mark up prices on trains they do show (sometimes substantially).
Instead, you can get train schedules for almost all of Europe on the the Bahn (German Rail) website http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en, following Rick's tutorial: http://www.ricksteves.com/travel-tips/transportation/trains/online-schedules
As for where to buy tickets for the best prices, here's a list from The Man In Seat 61: http://tinyurl.com/bo8x6o6
I, too, found it difficult to find the train schedule between Vienna and Krakow last year. It seemed like there were two or three changes and that it would take 9 hours. I ended up flying round trip between Vienna and Krakow and found it easy and relatively inexpensive on Austria Airlines.
