Krakow Holiday Inn

I will be in Krakow in December. I have a reservation at the Holiday Inn city center, but am wondering if this is a good place to saty? Has anyone else stayed there? Would I be better off somewhere else? Amber Boutique? Wielopole?????

I will be traveling with my adult daughter and will need twin/two beds. We want to stay near the city center. I really enjoy a good, hearty breakfast.

TIA, for any help.

I also think that the location looks good, just outside the greenbelt that rings the Old Town. The hotel I stayed in, Hotel Maltański, was similarly situated just across the road from the greenbelt, though on the other side of the Old Town from the Holiday Inn.

As a solo female traveler, I felt very safe walking through the greenbelt to my hotel, including after dinner. You're not far from the Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, where I regularly stopped to listen to street performers whose music created a lovely ambiance as you walk through.

On that side of the compact Old Town, you're also nearer to the Jewish Quarter and sights.

I've always stayed at the B&B La Fontaine. It's right off the Main Square; if you walk straight out of the Mariacki Church with the Cloth Hall on your left and then turn right at the end of the square, it's like half a block down that street. (It's the corner with my favorite sign in Krakow, marking where Goethe "lived" ["mieszkał"] for like three days.). It will be even closer to the Square than the Holiday Inn, and might even be cheaper, even after paying for breakfast (which I remember as being quite good).

We stayed at the Wielopole a few years ago and had an excellent stay. Breakfast was a large buffet and cooked foods were available upon request. It seems hotel buffets may have been changed or eliminated since Covid; this was some time ago. Our room was comfortable and very well kept , and the staff were friendly. They had a pot of coffee in the lobby (big points for us) and cookies. They arranged door to door tours for us to Auschwitz and the salt mine. As I recall it was just about across the street from the Holiday Inn. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation. It was an easy walk from the train station.

I took advice here and canceled the Holiday Inn and have booked the Wielopole. People there are very friendly and helpful. I would much rather support the local economy. Poland is doing so much for Ukraine refugees. I want to support them any way possible.
