Krakow Airport (KRK) to Hotel

Hi All!

I am getting ready for a trip to Europe which starts in Krakow. I haven't been able to find anything recent on this, so sorry if there is. Does anyone have any advice for how to get from the airport to your hotel? I am traveling alone and have minimal luggage. I arrive at KRK at 12:30AM and am staying at the Qubus Hotel.

Looking for the best option, taxi/shuttle (shared is fine) or train. I am looking for something affordable and reliable.

Thank you!!

Why not check with your hotel? They may offer a pickup service (for a nominal fee) or at least suggest the best method of getting into town. I frankly don't recall an airport shuttle - always took a taxi.

How much were the taxis? I have heard the hotel suggestions are inflated in price due to them charging their own "service fee" on top of the fee for the cab/shuttle.

Just looking for people's prior experience. In Prague I took a great shared shuttle that cost me around $15 USD and was door to door. It was easily researched however. I am not finding the same for Krakow.

Hi Adam,

The city center is connected to airport by both train and bus, which would involve about a 30 min. walk or short taxi ride to your hotel. The train costs 10 Zloty, but I'm not sure it's running that late. Bus #902 runs at night from out front of the airport to the central bus station downtown, which is behind the train station (takes 50 min. and costs 3.20 Zloty.

If you are arriving at 12:30 a.m. I think a taxi or shuttle will be your best option. A taxi from the Krakow Airport into downtown costs about 80 Zloty during the day (approx. $21 U.S.). A taxi at that hour will certainly cost more than that, but even at $30, I'd say it's worth it. As suggested by Robert, I'd email the hotel to get an estimate of the cost as well as ask about shuttles.

Might want to confirm your arrival time with the hotel, even if it does advertise a 24 hr. front desk...just to ensure that there really is someone there to check you in at 1 AM.

Wow, sorry. Complete typo. I am arriving at 12:30PM. Noon-Midday.

I think if the cab is only going to be around $30 USD that is likely my best route unless someone knows of a reliable shuttle company. I am really just looking for things people have used before and can recommend from firsthand experience. I've located some things online, but like to see reviews before booking. Everything I'm locating on other websites is from 2012-13

Thanks for all the help!

Hello.
I would recommend Kraków Airport Taxi company. Here is their website: http://www.krktaxi.pl/en/start
I was recommended the same earlier this year by my friend and it was very good experience. Sometimes the area is busy, and their man picks you up from the airport leading to a waiting taxi, which is very convenient.
Google map indicates less than 25 km from Kraków-Balice airport to Qubus Hotel, so you should fit in zone 5 fare, which is about 30 USD. While ordering a taxi, you can make sure about that, so later it won't be an issue.
I hope it helps.
Best of luck and enjoy Kraków.

There will probably be an information kiosk somewhere in the arrivals area that can answer questions and direct you to your preferred mode of transportation into the city.

As for taxis, it is obviously better to have an established company taxi ordered and have it waiting before instead of hunting for one after arrival, to avoid rip-off.

The Krakow airport is small and rather rustic, and I took a taxi from the stand into the old town area for 80 zloty (tip included, so fare was actually a bit less), this was in May. On a Sunday afternoon it was maybe a 15-20 minute ride. Our dollars go a long way in Poland.

Kraków - Balice airport is small but serves quite a lot of flights for its size, so it is very busy airport and a traffic around it has been an issue for years, so it is not to be underestimated. However, with its recent modernization, having new terminal open and train connections between airport and Kraków main station improved, it should be easier to move around now.
