Klodzkow Valley area Lower Silesia? Itinerary suggestions.

Hi,
Planning a trip to Poland in Fall and would be interested in visiting the Klodzkow valley region with the spa towns and old fortress at Silver Mountain and Klodzkow. Can anyone suggest a town to stay in to use as a base? I'm looking for a better quality hotel in center of town with walking distance to several pubs and restaurants. We plan on coming from Krakow with an overnight stop in CZ at Litmoysl, then 4 days exploring Klodzkow region as we work our way towards Wroclaw. Any suggestions appreciated.

Hi,

My comments on your choice of a name, (very historical!!), if this is not your real name.

How about staying in Klodzko itself? You've picked a very historical area in Lower Silesia to visit.

No, not my real name. I'm just a big fan of the greatest Polish king. I looked into staying in Klodzko but the hotels are somewhat lacking. I'm leaning towards staying in Sadwica and using it as a base to explore the area. Just interested in other options. Thanks.

That is definitely a good choice, certainly a most competent commander. In Vienna not far from the Albertina and the Tourist Office is a church where the king attended service after lifting the siege of the city (Die Belagerung von Wien). There is a memorial plaque on the church wall facing the sidewalk to that effect.

If the accommodations in Klodzko are lacking, what about in a larger town a bit north...Dzierzoniow or better still, Walbrzych. I never got this far south in Lower Silesia, only passed through on the train from Krakow which stopped in Wroclaw (the former province capital) before proceeding to Legnica, another famous battle site (2 battles, one decisive) when it was called Liegnitz.
As I said you're in a super historical area.

I meant Swidnica (not Sadwica) which is next to Walbrzych. We are leaning towards staying here as our base to explore Klodzkow Valley area. Either that or one of the spa towns further south. We will decide in the next few weeks. Thanks for the help.

Hi,

In a way I thought that was the town you actually meant since i could not find any spelled "Sadwica" Logistically, Swidnica appears to be a good choice. I envy your trip to that region.

Thanks. We like the less touristy areas. First time in Poland or Europe for that matter. Cant wait.
