Is it Safe to Travel in Poland

If you're on an RS tour you can rest assure they won't go and you'll be refunded if its deemed not safe.

I'm still planning to go to Poland in April, but I'm keeping a close eye on the situation.

I was booked on the Poland tour in May but switched to a tour in mid-September, not because of the war in Ukraine but because my personal circumstances made the change necessary. I feel confident RS will not run the tour if he thinks he cannot deliver the travel experience we expect.

If you're concerned about the potential for fighting in Poland (a NATO member), that would mean we are all at war, so there will be a heck of a lot more going on in our lives to worry about. Disruptions in services and travel restrictions, are possible, but the sad reality is that major combat operations in Ukrainia are likely to be over in a matter of days not months.

Safety is not really the issue. As Stan said, if fighting extends to Poland, none of us will be traveling. I would add that even Putin is not crazy enough to attack a NATO nation, but that diagnosis is becoming doubtful.

The issue will be refugees. There has already been over 1 Million refugees, most in Poland. Those numbers grow daily, creating a crowding and resource issue. Right now, it is mainly cities in Eastern Poland, but if things drag on, or Russia does gain control of Ukraine, then those refugees will move West and to other EU countries (and I suppose the US, UK, and other countries).

Warsaw, Krakow, and other cities can absorb a large number of people with little visible impact, and in reality, those refugees are not going to be crowding tourist sites. but there could be impacts with lodging, public transport, and the like, especially in the short term.

Since you are one a tour, they are monitoring, it could be April before the situation becomes clearer and they let you know, that is probably when I would decide as an independent traveler.
