Help with Itinerary to Krakow.

The old town and the magnificent cathedral.

There is a nice old town walk in the RS guide.

I'll be there a couple of weeks before you. Also traveling solo but in my late 40s.

Looking at your Day 4 - Is your Auschwitz tour slot at 12:40pm? Are you going by bus or train? I don't think you will have much time in the AM for shopping and strolling if you factor your transportation to Auschwitz. You should be at the museum 30 minutes before your appointment time for security screening.

I didn't see in your itinerary churches and the Underground Museum (https://bilety.mhk.pl/rezerwacja/wydarzenie.html?idl=20&lang=en). The link will take you to ticket page where you can then see some closure dates.

The Rynek Underground Museum - it's easy to get to as it's literally under the main square. For Auschwitz, are you on a packaged tour that leaves Krakow at 12:40, or is your entrance to Auschwitz at that time? If the latter, you should leave Krakow by 10:30.

Day 2. If present Wednesday through Saturday, I would encourage you to consider a brief stop at the Pharmacy under the Eagle (now small museum), the pharmacy of Tadeusz Pankiewicz in the Krakow ghetto from which the Gentile pharmacist helped the Jews. His post-war book, the excellent The Krakow Ghetto Pharmacy details his activities, as well as his observations of what happened on the main square of the ghetto, which he could easily see from his shop window.

Dave, the only way that I could find the book, was ordering it from the US Holocaust Museum. I should receive it August 10th.

Wow. I looked on Amazon, and it is like $40+. Crazy. I think I got a softback from Amazon for less than $10, but that was around 10 years ago. It's a good and short but kind of tough read.

Through the Holocaust Museum, I paid $10.95. Of course shipping was extra, but not to equal $40!

I actually started collecting Polish Pottery pieces. It would be awesome to be in Poland and get a couple pieces for my collection, specifically dinner plates.

But, I think Krakow looks like a great place to visit anyway, with the castle, great looking good, salt mine etc. Are there any symphony concerts there or possibly opera?
