Gdansk is a wonderful gem in Poland! It has so much to see and get involved with. And a side benefit: a one day side trip to Malbork (castle). The castle is very large yet fascinating. And another side trip is to the seaside resort of Solpot and its pier. It's an excellent one day (or less) trip via the local commuter train. Gdansk (and its local side trips) is what traveling is all about!
Yes, it is. People sometimes skip Poland altogether but it is a great place to visit.
@ rayses...totally agree with about Gdansk, a "wonderful gem." I was there in July 2003. . Great place to see historically, geographically, the landscape, culturally, etc. Malbork must also be included in the visit, not merely to visit the castle but to see what the town is like.
Yes, it is in our plans for the end of May. Warsaw, Malbork, Gdansk, Sopot and if weather cooperates than a little town at the end of penninsula called Hel (just one L but sound is the same). Nice name. We want to send postcards to our friends from there: Many greetings from Hel.
