Get your Guide / Viator tours/ or self tour to Riese and Kzias Castle- tipping in Poland

We will be staying in Woclaw this fall and hope to tour both the Kzias Castle and part of the Riese Underground compex. We will NOT have a car. I see that both Get Your Guide and Viator have guided tours there where you are picked up at your hotel and then dropped back at your hotel after an 8 hr day. What is the topping policy for these tours?

As a second question I have read the local websites and see where we could tour the castle if we take the train to the town. However, I do not see, or am missing, where one would then be able to get to the Riese Underground from the Castle and join a tour in English. Your help is appreciated and thank you.

I am not familiar with Poland but will say that both Viator and Get your Guide are 3rd party aggregators and do not run the tours themselves. At least for Viator, go to the website, go to Additional Information, scroll down and at the bottom you will see the name of the company that actually provides the tour. I recommend booking directly with the tour company.

In Europe a tip is usually not needed when you are paying for a tour or at most a couple of Euro.

IF you are taking one of the "free" walking tours given by students, out of work actors, etc, then you do need to tip almost as much as you'd pay a regular walking tour. These folks are charged something like 2 or 3 Euro a head for tour members.

I toured both Książ Castle and Project Riese on the same day however I had a car. I think you need to have a car if you want do both the same day. Seems there is a train station in Szczawienko next to Książ Castle, but you would need a least 1 hr to walk to the castle (one way), but maybe there are taxis.

As for Project Riese, the main entrance is deep in the mountains so you would need a car anyway to get there, I don't think there is public transport to that area. There are only a few tours in English so timing is crucial.

Honestly I would take the guided tour, seems like the only way to do it if you do not have your own car.

Thank you, Carlos. I had read about one of the towns accessing the Riese complex which had no public transportation. Looks like a tour is the best way to go, especially without a car.
