Free time in Krakow on RS Poland in 10 days trip

Hello,
There are some sights that we want to see in Krakow that are not included in the RS tour. If anyone was on the 10 day Poland trip and could tell me how much free time you had on Day 7 & Day 9 that would be most helpful. Then we could plan if we'll have time to take in those sights or to stay an extra day after the trip ends. Both days list free time in the afternoon. I'd really like as specific a time as you could give, including what time we'd need to be back for the farewell dinner on Day 9. When we book our return flight depends on this information.

Thank you

We went to the Oskar Schindler enamel factory. It’s an amazing historical perspective of what happened in Poland starting in 1930’s Germany. Afterwards, we walked to the nearby ghetto where there is a powerful monument composed of empty chairs. I composed a “Schindler’s List” movie tour of sites that were doable on the walk back to the hotel. We ubered to the factory and spent hours walking back, taking in the sights and eating dinner at a wonderful off the beaten path restaurant where we were the only non Europeans, (score!) without hurry.

Another site to see, and was next to our RS hotel, was the Czartoryski Museum. Da Vinci’s “Lady with an Ermine” is there. There are other remarkable pieces in this Polish Art Museum. The Nazis stole and/or destroyed much of Polish art and artifacts. It’s incredible that this museum was able to piece together Polish history post war. A true testament to the Monuments men and all the resistance fighters that hid and protected Polish history and culture.

There is a pedestrian area, it was right where we were staying, that is fun and authentic. Vodka bars, amber jewelry, chocolate, and other fascinating things to see on the way to the main market square. The market square is very cool early morning, when Krakow is waking up, and later in the day where people come to unwind.

Da Vinci’s “Lady with an Ermine” is there.

I haven't done the tour, but on a RS Eastern (now Central) Europe tour I saw this painting on my own and it was simply stunning. At that time it was a one-painting show (before it was moved to a bigger venue) and I had her all to myself (and the security guard). I nearly wept, so beautiful.

For a completely different change of pace, I loved my Crazy Guides tour of Nowa Huta. A fun and informative way to look at life in the Communist era. I still giggle thinking about it. It was a light hearted way to offset some of the heavier material from the tour.

I really enjoyed the museum that is under the huge market hall. It was very interesting and all text was in English. Easy to spend a few hours in there. Not sure if you get to tour the cathedral, but if not, it is worth a visit. The old Jewish quarter, Kazamierz, is wonderful for wandering around, seeing the old Synagogues, the many small stores, the cemetery, and some great food.
