We will be in Europe in Sept. 2017. Usually, we use the train, but the distance between these 2 cities is so far. I will be researching the trip after the holidays, but I am wondering if anyone has had any experience with this route. I am assuming that the prices will drop closer to the trip time(I hope). Thanks.
I don't have any experience with flying that route. High prices and no direct flight indicate that it's not much in demand. LOT has a nonstop flight from Warsaw to Bucharest, so you could try testing prices for that on different dates. I think it would be more practical to slow down and move at the pace that these countries seem to demand, adding stops in Slovakia and Hungary. There are no fast trains in this direction (Wasaw-Krakow and Budapest-Vienna being the closest fast trains to the region).
If you don't want to slow down and spread the journey over a couple of days, then the best option is to take the train from Krakow to Warsaw and get a direct flight to Bucharest. If you fly from Krakow you will have to change at another airport somewhere (Warsaw, Vienna, Budapest) as there are no direct flights.
