Cross my heart I need help channeling my inner Jane Russell in Krakow

For those of a certain age, my reference may ring a bell; all the rest are googling Jane Russell. I wasn’t quite in the market for brassieres when she was pushing the “lift and separate” benefits of Playtex bras but I do remember the commercials. Fast forward a few decades and here I am searching for the perfect bra so much so that I’ve penciled in an afternoon into my itinerary.

My original intention was to visit Lodz which I understand is ground zero for perfect bra fittings and manufacturing. Unfortunately something had to give in the itinerary. I dropped Lodz and made sure I had plenty of time for the perfect fitting somewhere in Kraków instead. Now, I’m scratching my head realizing I leave next week and still have no information or game plan to search out the perfect fit bra. I recall someone somewhere in this blog mentioned info on this subject for now I can’t seem to find it.

I’m quite serious about my endeavor. Fifty one percent of the population hopefully understands the beauty of a well fitting undergarment. It’s like finding the perfect walking shoe. My quest is genuine, bra jokes aside. Please, if anyone has had the experience or referral to bra shop in Krakow, I’d be most grateful.

I have not been to Poland, but if it is anything like Germany there is a lingerie shop in every block in the shopping area, with the selection prominently displayed in the shop window. Some of the wares are worthy of the Frederick’s of Hollywood catalog; others more suitable for Victoria’s Secret.

Hi Lola,
Yes, Europeans certainly love their lingerie but I’m not looking for Fredrick’s or Victoria Secret kind of brassieres. I’m in the market for a perfectly fitted, sturdy workhorse of a bra. I’ve been told that “in the know” busty woman look to Poland with their long history of bra manufacturing and sizing selection that’s three or four times larger than can be found in the states for the perfect fit and comfort. One brand, Ewa Michalak, for instance carries sizing from A to N with band sizing 28 to 60. Here in the US it’s hard to find anything above a 44DD. Hence my quest to find shop in Krakow that I can stock up on perfectly fitted undergarments.
It’s kind of akin to all your life trying to fit your 6 toed, size 14 feet into a pair of off the rack shoes and finally going to a cobbler to have a properly fitted pair of custom shoes made. My husband is going to get a giggle about the sexy suggestions you supplied.

I understand. My point is that there are lots of shops, and you might do best to just walk into one and ask to see what they have that is more practical than the risqué models in the window. Or ask about the specific brand you mentioned. If they do not carry it, they will know who does.

A.W. - You are an absolute peach! Thank you so much for the in depth information on where to go bra shopping in Krakow. I must apologize for not responding earlier to your information. The last few days before flying out got away from me. From your other posts, I see you live outside Warsaw. Are you Polish because it is my first time to Poland and I do believe Poles are the most helpful people I’ve encountered. I told my traveling companion today that if we wanted to meet a Pole all we had to do was get out a map and look lost. Someone would miraculously appear to help out. Tomorrow we have the whole afternoon set aside for bra shopping here in Krakow!
I am absolutely in love with Poland! How did this escape my travel radar for so long? We flew into Gdańsk 8 days ago then traveled to Zakopane and settled into Krakow last night. Not the best routing possible. It’s a long story but the original trip was planned as a solo journey focused on Poland only for three weeks but a friend decided to come along and Czechia was added not to mention she wanted to do a night train because it sounded exciting. I laughed and told her we were probably twenty years too old for night trains but sure. I wasn’t willing on comprising Zakopane so it is was it is. I am sooooo glad we did Zakopane. I must write a trip report when I have a chance to breathe.
Thank you again to everyone for giving me feedback. I will be sure to write up our adventures soon. Poland is so under rated!
