I’m still planning my trip for September. After a few days n Berlin we are traveling to Torun for 2 days then Gdańsk. Looking at travel options it seems like a stop overnight in either Szczecin or Poznan en route to Torun may be easier. Any suggestions?
By car or by train?
Train or bus
I heard that it was heavily under construction so we missed it and went to Torun and Gdansk and instead.
Poznan is very nice, without mobs of tourists. The restaurants are great too.
I took a bus from Berlin to Poznan.
It will be faster to travel from Berlin to Toruń through Poznań (Berlin-Warszawa Express), but it is also possible with a change in Szczecin, where I live :) Then you can visit for instance the Pomeranian Dukes' Castle and the Old Town of Szczecin together with places from its German times as Wały Chrobrego and Kasprowicz Park with Rose Garden. The Pomeranian Dukes' Castle is a complex of buildings that are a symbol of Szczecin as a capital of Pomerania in the past. It is not far away from the train station Szczecin Główny. Poznań is also worth to visit. It was a capital of Poland in the Middle Ages!
I found similar difficulties in planning, so I waited for another trip, where we only did Poland, and flew back to the US via London to visit friends for just a few days. I found Berlin and Warsaw were too far apart!
