Since Auschwitz will be a very emotional day, I was thinking about doing it at the end of our stay in Krakow on the day we will take the overnight train to Budapest. I believe our hotel would hold our luggage, but we would want to carry our small daypacks (instead of a purse) with passports with us. Are visitors allowed to bring daypacks, or is this going to be an issue? I couldn't find anything on the website.
This page lists the allowed size of packs https://www.auschwitz.org/en/visiting/basic-information/
The maximum size of backpacks or handbags brought into the Museum
does not exceed dimensions: 30x20x10 cm.
The page also mentions luggage storage, but if your hotel will hold it that would probably be more efficient since you're returning to town to leave. BTW I like your plan, I was emotionally spent after my visit there and a long quiet train ride would have suited me fine.
Thanks, CL. I guess I couldn't see for looking :) That helps a lot. Yes, I think it will be better to go at the end of our stay rather than in the middle, too emotional.
