A few days in and around Poznan in April

Hello,

My family and I will be visiting Poznan for an ancestral trip for 2 days. We will be a party of 7 with 5 adults and two kids (14, 10). Does anyone have suggestions as far as tour guides or activities for kids? Additionally are there any places outside of Poznan worth seeing? We are driving from Prague and planning to stop at Stalag Luft III POW camp for my father and after Poznan, we are heading to Berlin. Any suggestions in and around the area are appreciated. Thanks!

Seems like you are covering a lot of ground in a very short amount of time, the drive from Prague to Poznan is sure to be an all day affair. Not sure if you'll actually have any spare time for daytrips from Poznan, but if you do I can suggest:

Gniezno - the historic and legendary birthplace of Poland, the first capital before even Krakow. Home to the impressive Gniezno Cathedral, one of the oldest religious buildings in Poland, filled with all manner of interesting art and relics. Gniezno is blissfully off the radar, I doubt you will see another foreign tourist there.

Biskupin - a bit north of Gniezno is Biskupin, an Iron Age fortified settlement of the early Slavic and Lusitanian cultures. Nicely reconstructed with a great adjacent archaeological museum.

Both sites are within an hour of Poznan by car.

I also have family from Poznan. Please try to write a trip report or PM me when you get back home. I'm thinking of visiting there after my trip to Prague in September.
Thanks.
