We stayed at this hotel for three nights and just loved it! It was a 30 zloty taxi ride from the Chopin airport. You need to be "rung in" from the street. All the staff spoke very good English.
Our room, the Generalowa, was so charming and comfortable. They use very nice older furniture throughout the hotel. The bed was king size and was very comfortable. The walls were very high, giving it a grand old feeling. There was plenty of storage and a kettle with tea and coffee available. Good free wifi.
We at first wondered where was the bathroom? Egads, was it down the hallway? Then, we opened the door to the large wooden wardrobe closet and there it was! A nice modern bathroom with all the nice amenities. There is a lift but you still need to go up a few stairs so it is not handicapped accessible.
The breakfast was just lovely. Everything so fresh and wholesome. Hard boiled eggs, meats, cheeses, fresh hearty breads, coffeecake, yogurt, some fruits, tomatoes, etc. A very traditional Polish breakfast. A hostess served coffee and tea.
There are very nice restaurants and bakeries within 5-10 minutes walking distance. You can walk to Old Town in about 20-30 minutes. Great location and Chopin recitals at night.
