Two of us recently went to Charlotte at 2pm on a Thursday, were told it was open seating and that someone would be by to take our order. We sat down in between to two tables of Poles and waited to place our order. We waited 15minutes during which time the table to our right had their lunch delivered. The waitress made eye contact and walked off. We waited another 10 minutes for her to come back, at which point my friend tried to order at the counter. We were told that "wasn't possible" and the waitress would be by. We said that we'd been waiting for a while but no, "not possible to order." Five minutes later, the waitress presented the check to the table to our left and they mentioned to her we'd like to order. She again made eye contact and walked off. They left and she went outside to vape. We then left. It was clear it was a deliberate snub and we weren't going to be served. There's a lot of very good food in Krakow so avoid the poor customer service here.
it sounds to me like lunch ends at 2 (common in many places) and the two other tables were just finishing up and the server wasn't expecting to have people ordering a meal after lunch finished.
Perhaps. Others around us were getting drinks and food and we were handed lunch menus upon arrival so if that is the case, it was not evident. Regardless, better communication would have helped.
