what time of day is best for Nærøyfjord cruise (in June)?

hello all,

I am having a difficult time deciding how to schedule Nærøyfjord cruise and Flam to Myrdal roundtrip on the same day in June (we will be staying in Flam)
Would it be best to book 9:30 am cruise and then do the Flam-Myrdal train ride in the afternoon? Or the other way around - train ride in the morning then cruise in the afternoon?

Thank you in advance for your help :)

We did the Nærøyfjord ferry the first week of July last year from Gudvangen to Kaupanger. We booked the last ferry of the day, probably 6:30, and the evening sunlight on the mountains was absolutely beautiful. As an added bonus, that timeslot was deeply discounted. It’s a fabulous voyage whenever you go.

How are you arriving/leaving Flåm? Will you have a car? What else do you plan for your overnight in Flåm.

A bit more information would help.

The Flam to Myrdal railway will be at its quietest in the afternoon, as that is the counter peak period both for cruise traffic and for Norway in a Nutshell Traffic, and the 9.30 am cruise is before the Norway in a Nutshell in a day traffic has arrived from Oslo to fill the boats.

1) Take care that you visit Flåm without a cruise ship in port. https://www.flamport.no/arrival-list

2) Since you will have a car, I recommend Stegastein in the morning hours. Will look like this with sun from behind.

3) To have the Nærøyfjord in most sunlight choose a cruise in the early to mid afternoon. Will look like this.

4) Sort train at the end - last departure 5.30 p. m..
