We are visiting Trondheim in July. Hoping to take the train from there to Oslo. I know the views on both sides of train will be great; but is there a more scenic side of train to sit on?

In my opinion, no. For some parts of the journey the left side will be better and for some the right side will be better. But in general the views will be nice no matter which side you sit on.
