I'm planning a two week Norway road trip and I'm wondering if it worth it to drive the trollstigen. Starting out in Bergen and gradually making our way north to Geiranger via the Sognefjord and then back towards Bergen. I'm thinking about skipping it in favor of some time spent around the Hardingerfjord. Thoughts?
The Trollstigen alone is totally worth the time to drive to it from Geiranger. The 90-minute drive itself past the Ornesvingen, the Eidsvatnet , Valldal and the approach to the Trollstigen—which looks like an Arctic tundra landscape—is all spectacular.
Skipping it means missing one of the most scenic drives in Norway.
IMO, totally worth it if the weather cooperates. One of the highlights of our 2023 trip.
