Travel from Gudvangen ferry port to Bergen

Hi everyone
My husband and I are taking the 2 hour ferry from Flam to Gudvangen arriving at 11:30 a.m. We will then proceed to Bergen. We are trying to decide whether to take the bus to Voss, then train to Bergen or bus from Gudvangen to Bergen. The advantage of the latter is that it is direct and I read scenery is better because it's not as fast as the train. How far is the direct bus station from the ferry port? However can we buy advance bus tickets online? What site would that be? Appreciate all your inputs/ comments (pros and cons). Thank you.

The bus stop for that long distance bus is about 5 minutes walk uphill from the quay.
The benefit is it is one bus, not a whole convoy of buses with a huge crowd boarding.
The disbenefit is you don't stop at the hotel half way to Voss for the view.

Between Voss and Bergen I am not convinced there is much in it scenically.

That bus (the #450) is run by Vy (some are Norway bus ekspress), so buy from Vy, same as the trains. Yes you should buy on line.
However that #450 bus terminates at Voss, as opposed to going through to Bergen, thus you haven't achieved very much. You may as well take the #950 up from the quay itself.
All you have really achieved is losing the crowds, and potentially missing the 450 if the boat is late for some reason. The 950 will wait within reason for a late boat.

isn31c thank you so much.
Is it advisable to buy bus tickets online #950 direct to Bergen? Do you know how many buses per day?

There is a 950 connects with every one of the electric ferries from Flam, at Gudvangen quay.
You can pre book with Norway's best, but will pay nearly twice the pay on board fare.
As well as being a ferry connector it is also a local bus. In theory it has over 50 potential stops between Gudvangen and Voss.
So there are several buses in the convoy for pre booked passengers, but always has to be at least one bus which is open to walk up passengers.
So the choice is yours.

What we did have several times on the forum in 2025 was that when the electric ferries broke down passengers were put on a later Lustraabatane boat.
The pre booked passengers for the 950 had seriously retimed 950 buses wait for them, while the public walk up bus in the Convoy had long gone.

So it depends on your attitude to risk whether you think it is worth paying over the odds to have a guaranteed bus.
