Leaving Copenhagen & want to spend couple days on western fjords and do Norway in Nutshell then a couple days in Oslo. After that we will be traveling on to Stockholm for flight back to US. Thought it would make sense to do NN in Bergen to Oslo direction. However can't seem to find reasonable (timewise) way to go from Copenhagen to Bergen. Is my best bet just to take evening train from Copenhagen to Goteborg, spend night, and then morning train from Goteborg to Oslo? Then take NN Oslo to Bergen & back again? We have Eurail pass if that makes any difference. Thank you for your help!
There is no (land) route from Copenhagen to Bergen without going via Oslo and doubling back, as you have discovered.
There is an overnight ferry from Hirtshals to Bergen (website here: https://www.fjordline.com/en/p/timetables-and-route-information ). Hirtshals is at the northern tip of the Danish mainland, so you would still need to get there.
The best option is to fly Copenhagen to Bergen. Flights by Norwegian Air Shuttle and SAS.
Just take a quick and inexpensive flight from Copenhagen to Bergen.
We really enjoyed Bergen.
Thank you for settling that for me. I made the airline reservations!
