I am trying to make a train reservation from Oslo to Myrdal. It says in the new Scandinavia book, a train leaves at 6:43, but I only see an early morning train leaving at 8:25. Also does the Eurail pass pay for part of the Myrdal to Flam trip?

DB (for schedule) and Rail Europe (for their regular tickets) both show a 6:22 departure on a test date of July 21. Rail Europe is not showing a pass holder seat reservation for sale online for that departure, but they've always had limited access to Scandinavia reservations. For years, we've only considered the 8:00 to be the important leg for advance reservation, since it's most popular. I feel confident that you can reserve seats on the earlier train, plus buy the discounted Myrdal-Flam ticket when you arrive in Oslo. Train stations in Denmark and Sweden can usually book the train reservation, if you're in those areas earlier. Or you can call Norwegian rail using the phone number on p. 296 of your book.

I recently made a reservation for the train from Oslo to Flam in August. I made my reservation and purchase of tickets by telephone, see phone number in RS Scandinavia book. I had a choice of the 6:22 train or the 8:05 train. I chose the later. Purchase of the ticket can be done in two ways-either by using American Express o Diners Cards; or NSB will take a reservation, send you an email directing you to a website where you have a few hours to pay with another type of credit card.(Visa or MC). I paid for my tickets using American Express card and then they sent me my ticket information. I can either download the tickets or pick them up at the Oslo station.
