We are taking the Nutshell tour from Oslo to the fjords on and will get off at Flam for the night in early October (10/7/24). My questions are: 1. Will we be able to switch trains in Flam with only 4 minutes to catch the train to Myrdal? 2. Will it be light long enough to make the 2-3 hour ride back to Flam?
Cant quite work out the 4 min switch time.
I dare say a msg to these guys might help.

Should be a thrill either way what a spectacular place it is
Not sure I understand why you would be wanting to catch the train to Myrdal with 4 minutes to spare if you are spending the night in Flam? You title also suggests you wish to bike down to Flam from Myrdal? We did bike this route and it was lovely. But if you are getting off a train in Flam how are you biking down to Flam from Myrdal?
Presumably the thought is to ride the train down to Flam, then back to Myrdal, then ride down to Flam for the night?
Train times are only issued 120 days out so the October schedule is not currently available.
The line is mainly single track, and at that time of year there is likely only one train set operating.
The 4 minute turn round time is when two trains are running, so you would have to cross the platform at Flam to switch trains to go back up.
If you look at the schedule for say tomorrow- the one train schedule, the turn back time at Flam is closer to half an hour.
You haven't mentioned what time you'd plan to start the bike ride down to Flam, but you can Google for the time of sunset in Myrdal or Flam on October 7. If information isn't available for those locations, try Voss and then Bergen. The terrain around Flam would mean less light in the evening than you'd have in Voss or Bergen, I assume, but I don't know how big a deal that would be.
