Train travel from Bergen to Oslo

There will be 4 of us traveling from Bergen to Oslo by VY Train. We plan to upgrade to a larger seat in the Plus car. Which side of the train should we sit on and how do we determine which side the train is traveling? I have researched and read differing opinions. I want to make sure I book y seats correctly when the booking opens for this journey. Thank you in advance for this advice.

I've only taken part of the route as a DIY Nutshell between Bergen and Oslo.

From Bergen to Voss the left side had the edge for views. From Myrdal to Oslo the right side was a bit better, IMO.

If you can break your journey by following the Norway in a Nutshell route, I would highly recommend it. The cruise through the Naeroyfjord was one of the highlights of our 2 ½ week Norway trip in 2023.

On a journey of this length there is no 'best' side of the train, it varies during the journey and in a sense "best" will depend on the individual. In that direction the Plus Car should be the rear car in the train (Bergen bound it is the front car).

The seat plans during the booking process indicate the direction of travel of the train

The 0619 train from Bergen does not convey Plus Class.

Vy are also running an extra short train this year from May to September Oslo to Myrdal terminating there- leaving Oslo at 0918 and Myrdal at 1514.
You may be offered a chance to take the 1209 regional train to Myrdal changing into the extra train at Myrdal. Neither of those trains will have Plus Class, nor are they the normal long distance train cars.
