We are planning a trip to Norway in August, and want to do the NiN. After a few days in Oslo, we will rent a car to travel to the Jevnaker area for a day or two. I would then like to take the train from there to Myrdal, thus connecting to the NiN route. Is there a detailed rail map I can look at to see if that makes sense? We would like to avoid heading back to the Oslo airport to drop off the car, in order to pick up the NiN train there.
Google Maps shows a rail line, but it must be for cargo only, since Jevnaker doesn't show up on train schedules. See also https://www.nsb.no/en/our-destinations/map-of-railway-lines. The smaller stations you could choose probably don't have car rental returns.
Thanks, Laura. I will check this out. Maybe I can find a nearby train station to drop off the car.
Here is the NSB list of stations on the Bergen Railway line:

The closest station to Jevnaker appears to be Hokksund station.
Several coach/bus services appear to run between Javnaker and Hokksund. Try Nettbuss and Brakar. I don't have personal experience doing this.
Note that Hokksund is not a staffed station. I don't know if Hokksund is a scheduled stop or a whistle stop.
Hønefoss is closer.
Thanks. Yes, Honefoss is the closest station to Jevnaker. However, I am now wondering if we would have to take a "regular" train to Myrdal, since I think the NiN might be a non-stop train?
NSB schedules only go out about three months but you can check the June timetable. Trains depart Hønefoss to Myrdral at 9:54, 13:33 & 17:12. Standard price is 551 NOK. Cheapest Minipris ticket would be on the 17:12 departure. Honefoss is also an un-staffed station (ticket machine).
I did the NiN from Oslo last May, and the train definitely did stop in Hønefoss. Google search seems to indicate that there are definitely car rental outlets there.
Thanks for all the information. It's helpful to know the train stops at Honefoss station.
