Train Reservations

Hi!

Travelling to Norway (and Denmark and Sweden) in July. I have a Eurail pass for Scandinavia and have read that I should make reservations in advance. However, while using the Eurail planning app I've noticed that many of the train timetables are not posted for July. Is it just the app or is this too far in advance to reserve? Is it important to reserve all of my tickets, or can I just buy as I go?

Thanks!

Yes, it's too soon. Some of these are not on sale more than two months ahead. It's not necessary to reserve all trains, and there's no deadline to do so, but Sweden's HiSpeed/X-2000 do require seat assignments and can limit the number of rail pass travelers. They're also highly recommended for long-distance trains in Norway, especially the morning departure from Oslo toward Myrdal/Flam/Bergen. You have to get your pass activated in a station before first use, so that could be a time to make a few reservations for the whole region. Or just wait a couple of weeks.
