Tour Guide from Flam

My husband and I are planning to visit Norway this coming August and would like to avoid renting a car. We would like to take the train from Oslo to Flam, spend a couple of nights in Flam and then travel on to Bergen. I found a day tour from Flam (including stops at the Borgund Stave Church and the Stegastein Viewpoint). However, our dates are set and the tour is not offered the day we will be there. Can anyone recommed a private guide for a day tour?

Thank you,

Paula

I don't know about private guides in the area (who would surely be extremely costly if they exist), but I think there are regular bus excursions to the Stegastein viewpoint. I imagine some Googling will turn up details.

During the summer of 2022 there was a once-a-day bus from Flam (departing around noon, as I recall) that stopped at the Borgund stave church. The schedule allowed time to see the church and the museum before catching the bus on the way back to Flam. On the day I took that bus, it left Flam so late that I really only had time to see the church itself, but at least I got to see that. Based on my experience, I'd have to say there's some risk that depending on that bus to see the church could not work out, but probably it works fine most of the time.
