We have a tentative plan to take the ferry from Bergen to Stavanger immediately following our RS Scandinavian tour in July. Looking for suggestions about good hotels and car rental for a few days (3 possibly). Need a car to get to Vikedal. Thank you for any suggestions!

The coast seen from the ferry is also very scenic, so not a bad option at all. But if you're going to Vikedal, Haugesund is a better base than Stavanger.
But don't forget to spend a bit of time in Stavanger, it is very much worth it.

Thank you very much! All these suggestions sound great and so helpful! I did consider Haugesund instead of Stavanger on my way eventually to Imsland to see homestead of family. Might keep that in mind. I am hoping also to locate a cousin in Stavanger.
